Una's on Broadway

Nestled at the corner along Broadway is this Austrian restaurant.

I've always peered in through the windows and finally had a chance to try it. Una's home-style menu is European but mainly inspired by Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Hungary.

We started with some home baked Bretzel. Those white flakes are actually salt. Wow! It was really salty.

While waiting for our mains to arrive, we were amused by what was written on the board . I've heard of BYO and paying for wine bottles but for coke too?

We ordered the Schlachtplatte which is a meat platter for 4. It actually was enough for 6! The platter had pork knuckle, kassler rib, csabi and bratwurst, rosti, red cabbage, sauerkraut and black pudding served with bread and potato dumpling.

It was definitely a lot of food and we were stuffed to the brim. The pork knuckle had a nice crispy skin with the meat soft and tender. Although cutting it took some muscles!

The kassler rib was just bursting with flavour. I couldn't name everything on the platter but one of the sausages was really good too (it can only be either the scabi or bratwurst).

The black pudding was definitely something different. Not sure if knowing the fact that it was made with blood actually made the experience a little difficult.

Generous portions of rosti and red cabbage completed the meal.
