When you usually ask a Malaysian where to go for some Malaysian food in London Chinatown, the name C&R does pop up a few times.
With that, I find myself heading there with friends. As it was a small group, we only tried a few dishes.
Wan Tan Hor
Carrot cake
Hokkien Noodles
The food was tasty and while not able to replicate all the flavours and balance of its original sisters and brothers in Malaysia , is still acceptable.
Will I recommend: Yes
Will I come back: Yes
Have I had better: Yes
C&R Cafe, 4 Rupert Court London W1D 6DY
feel the same... acceptable.. not quite malaysia or s'pore... but good... service is not great... its good for a quick fix of the things you miss when not in malaysia or s'pore... i really like the roti canai there but a lady a work hated it.. tbh.. compared to anywhere else in london this place is prob the best... also like the penang laksa... chicken rice however is not great...
ReplyDeleteI used to go here all the time after my other favourite Malaysian joint closed down. Haven't been in a long while, but their Nasi Lemak's were always pretty good.
ReplyDeleteMr. Foodie - I got to Kam Fung in Holborn for my chicken rice fix. True, this is probably the best in London and convenient too.
ReplyDeleteMzungu - which was your favourite Malaysian joint that closed down?
Yeah C&R is a good fall back but not really *that* great. I was offended when they served the assam laska with sardines instead of tuna! GAHHHH! But the seafood hor fun is delicious :)
