Murano, Mayfair

Murano. I've always wanted to try it. Run and now owned by Angela Hartnett, the first female protégé of Gordon Ramsay. That was enough to pique my interest.

I finally made my way there for lunch one fine day and was quite excited.

Overall, the food was good, service was good but we felt underwhelmed and nothing stood out, except for the amazing basil flavour from one of the sorbets for me.

It was a forgettable experience for me which I was not expecting but sadly so.

Will I come back: No
Have I had better: Yes

  1. Oh no! Such a shame that it was underwhelming as it does all look good. I've been wanting to try this as well but I guess it now goes down at the bottom of the list!

  2. A shame. Nothing worse than missed expectations. Hard to meet the hype some times. At least it was just underwhelming, and not plain bad...

  3. Su-Lin - I think there are other Italian places that will probably leave a deeper impression. =)

Brett - That's true, at least it wasn't plain bad.

  4. Interesting! Murano just moved to the bottom of my to do list after having read this review. Does look pretty nice though, at least they know how to present their food...
