My friend and I found Cafe Sen quite by chance when we decided to randomly Google for eating places around Canary Wharf . This popped up in the maps and we were intrigue as there aren't many Viet choices around the area.
We were cautious enough to actually look for the place during a non eating time just to make sure that it exists. Exists it did and we came back for dinner.
Mango Salad £3.90
The mango salad was decent although according to my Viet companion, they used the wrong mangoes.
Spicy shredded salad
This was standard, clean and refreshing.
Crab, Prawn & Egg in Tomato Broth £7
I really like this, especially on a cold winter’s day and when you just don't feel like having pho. The slight tang that comes from the tomato broth went really well to highlight the soft sweetness of the crabs and eggs.
Rare Beef Pho £5.9
There wasn't much depth to the broth, but is still adequate.
Spicy Tamarind Mussels £5.8
Vietnamese Savoury Crepe £3.9
Cafe Sen, Orion Point, 7 Crews Street, London E14 3TUPan Fried Lemongrass Cod
Prawn, Aubergine & Tofu hotpot
The rest of the dishes are decent. While Cafe Sen may not be one that is worth a trip from the other side of town for, it is definitely a worthy consideration if you are around the area.
Will I recommend: Yes
Will I come back: Yes
Have I had better: Yes
Went to look for Cafe Sen on Google Map immediately after I read your review. It's a good 15min walk from Canary Wharf station so not sure whether I can make a quick dash over there for lunch. Might worth a try though. Will definitely go for the tomato broth when I'm there and the dishes seem reasonably priced too. Thanks for the heads up!
ReplyDeleteLondon Chow - It is situated in the residential areas and definitely a good walk from the station. They also do a lunch buffet on Sundays too.
ReplyDeleteWith the weather so cold nowadays I can only drool at photos of delicious Pho and Vietnamese pancakes :D
