Cafe De Macau, Haymarket (June 07)

On a cold and windy night, most of us were tired after a hard day’s work and we ended up trying this restaurant that had only opened for a few months.

Most of us opted for the set dinner as it came with a number of choices.

Entree - Lobster Bisque
Entrée was the lobster bisque. It was good, not too thick, creamy and full of seafood flavour. There was also some prawns and lobster meat found in the bisque.
Mains - Grilled fillet steak with mushroom sauce
Mains - Stewed duck breast with red wine sauce
The mains arrived next. You have the option of either spaghetti or steamed rice for the main. The stewed duck breast with red wine sauce was surprisingly tender and quite good. The spaghetti unfortunately has been cooked too long and has over expanded. It was bordering on the limp side. The grilled fillet steak in mushroom sauce was good too considering the price. Next time, it might be a good idea to go for the steamed rice instead.

Dessert - Creme Brulee
Onto dessert, all of us chose the crème brulee. I have to say that I am a tad disappointed with this. It has been placed in the oven for too long.
Overall, you can’t expect too much as the dinner set menu is at $16.50.
